Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is prohibited. Eight casinos are established in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently required to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of many border crossings.
The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat casino, features 150 slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that contains numerous conveniences on top of the casino, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 table games.
