Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent area, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau casino, highlights 150 slots and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel compound that contains many comforts on top of the gambling den, which offers 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 table games.
