Cambodia Casinos
There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is not legal. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of many borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau casino, features 150 one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel complex that highlights numerous amenities accompanying the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and 88 table games.
