Cambodia Casinos

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den betting is prohibited. Eight casinos are established in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a prime spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, contains 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that features many comforts accompanying the casino, which offers ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and 88 table games.
