Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is banned. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are apparently required to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of most border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau casino, contains 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that contains numerous comforts aside from the gambling den, which houses 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 table games.
