Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect location, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling den, highlights 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that features numerous comforts aside from the gambling den, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 gaming tables.
